The Spring Play

The Spring Play, Walk into my Parlour, will take place at Elgin Town Hall from Thursday 24th May until Saturday 26th May. If you would like to help with 'front of house' and refreshments, please let us know.

Tickets are on sale at Ultimate Hair and Beauty in Elgin and at the door but if you wish to have them put by, please e mail your requirements to elgindrama@live.co.uk

Queen's Jubilee Pagent

Just a reminder that all members are welcome to take part in the pagent on 2nd June. We will be sorting out some costumes in the Sheddie at 7.30pm on Tuesday 29th May, so come along to find something that fits you. Bring Mum and Dad if you like and, if you already have a suitable costume at home, then bring that along for us to have a look at.

We would like to keep to the theme of pantos so will have plenty of space for fairies, princesses, princes, dames and baddies.

Details of when and where to meet on pagent day will be given when you come for your costumes

AGM

The AGM took place on Wednesday 9th May in The Sheddie. There was a good attendance and future plans for the Society were discussed. The outgoing Chairman, Lindsay, reported that we had had another good year and wanted to express special thanks to the many people who have helped us over the years including, Beaver Travel, Elgin Truck and Van Centre, Ultimate Hair and Beauty and Jane Miller. New Committee Members were elected, and auditions for Jack and the Beanstalk, which will take place late August, as well as workshops for the younger (and not so young) members and help required for the Spring Play were discussed. Amanda (who is now the Chairman) has sourced hoodies which will be printed with the EADS motif and will be available to order at the auditions. We also discussed the Diamond Jubilee Pagent, due to take place on June 2nd, which many of the members said they would be happy to dress up and take part in.

Maureen Woolfson Trophy

This year's 'Maureen Woolfson Trophy' has been awarded to Handley Barrett for his outstanding contribution to EADS. Handley has been a member for many years and has always welcomed and encouraged newcomers, as well as being an integral part of all the pantomimes. His 'register keeping' has helped us keep track of all members and enabled us to 'make enquiries' if someone failes to turn up due to illness or otherwise. Here's to many more pantomimes, Handley!

New Honourary Member

EADS are happy to announce that Jane Miller has become an Honourary Member of EADS, after giving 18 years of dedicated service in the costume department. Jane has been responsible for making hundreds of costumes over the years, including many of the beautiful pantomime creations. We would like to give Jane our very best wishes on her move to Yorkshire and look forward to seeing her again during her visits to Burghead.
